SAFEGUARDING
Your team needs this
training now!
20% of Girls and 9% of Boys in Aotearoa New Zealand report unwanted sexual abuse Source: UNICEF Aotearoa.
85% of online sex offenders become contact sex offenders.
The sex offender rate is 4.2 per 100 people, so for every 100 people you know, 4.2 of them statistically could be a sex offender.
Let that sink in!
This isn’t just alarming it’s a call to action for all of us. Our tamariki/children are being targeted, we must act before the damage is done.
Ask yourself these 4 questions...
Do I understand Safeguarding?
Would I be able to See The Signs that a child or vulnerable person is a victim and in need of Safeguarding?
Would I know what to do if I believed I did See The Signs?
Is my team, organisation, school or community up to date with their Safeguarding knowledge?
If you answered NO
to any of these questions,

'Since your workshop there has been 3 cases at FVIARS (Family Violence Interagency Response System) that myself and others who attended your seminar, have openly identified as CSE. This has allowed for good discussion at our response table
"'T" - Hutt Valley FVIARS (Family Violence Interagency Response System)

‘Thank you for the presentation. It was good to learn more about CSE here in Aotearoa. I think everyone should attend this training. We are all part of communities; we can all add our bit to the prevention of CSE’
'C' Hato Hone - St John

‘Huge thanks for your comprehensive presentation to the Child Health Team. There was certainly great discussioin and a lot of interest around this subject. We really appreciate you sharing your expertise with us’
'L' Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand

and a lot of interest around this subject. We really appreciate you sharing your expertise with us’'L' Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand‘I learnt more of the signs of CSE such as who the person is with. How under-prepared NZ is to prevent and deal with CSE. That CSE is much more prevalent in NZ than I thought it was’
'A' Paramedicine - Whitireia New Zealand

'I am frequently working with young people who I can now say are being exploited. Before it was concerning and would seek advice, now I know what exactly it is I will be more assertive in my responses. I often have young girls in relationships with older men, often being provided drugs/alcohol, a roof over their heads, or acceptance in return for sex.'
'M' Whanganui

'I would strongly recommend this workshop to anyone working with tamariki and rangatahi! It is very useful as most people including myself are not fully aware of how common child sexual exploitation is in NZ.'
