International hand signal for help launches in New Zealand

Gloria Masters, founder of Handing the Shame Back and her partner Detective Inspector Scott Beard of NZ Police says – as a survivor myself, my mission is to give voice to children affected by this abuse.
My work also includes launching the global hand sign for under 16s — a silent, powerful tool designed to help young people disclose abuse safely.
She asks:
• Why does society struggle to face the truth about child sexual abuse
• The grooming that keeps victims silent
• How we can all help bring this into the light
Scott says, ‘with years of frontline experience, and I bring the survivor’s voice — together, we highlight both the urgency and hope around protecting our tamariki.’
